Disadvantages of 5G

5G Disadvantages

5G stands for fifth generation and refers to the next and newest mobile wireless standard based on IEEE 802.11ac standard of broadband technology. Formal standard for the 5G Technology yet to be finalized.

We all know that 5G has several advantages over the existing 4G standards. Increased speed of upto 10Gbps and 90 percent less energy usage are the few important advantages of 5G.

Important Disadvantages of 5G

1. Less Coverage due to increased Band Width

We may have to use more cell towers produce immense bandwidth because the cells are not able to cover as much space as a 3G or 4G cell. Because of that 5G users will not get the coverage equivalent to 3G and 4G in the initial stages.

2. Radio Frequency Jam

It seems like 5G transmission uses Radio frequency in 6GHz range. Radios, Cell Towers and satellites communicate devices using radio frequencies. It is possible that the crowded transmission of signals in this range will conflict each other. It should be addressed with a proper solution.
Security is also another important concern in this radio frequency crowd.

3. High Cost for implementation

5G implementation requires skilled engineers to install and maintain 5G network. Moreover 5G equipments are costly. This increases cost of 5G deployment and maintenance phases.

5G Smartphones also costlier compared to 4G and 3G. That makes it hard for normal people to access 5G Technology.
