Apple Released New iOS 11.2.5 update

Apple released their new iOS 11.2.5 for devices and it delivers a short list of changes including support for the upcoming HomePod speaker. Apple released iOS 11.2.5 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

1. A new Siri ability

The iOS 11.2.5 update includes a new Siri ability where users can instantly stream a news podcast when the personal assistant is asked about the news. Prior to this version its available with iOS, but it’s now widely available in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.

2. Support for the HomePod speaker

Apple confirms that you can now setup and automatically transfer your Apple ID, Apple Music, Siri and Wi-Fi settings to HomePod.Apple revealed the HomePod smart speaker in June 2017 at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). The HomePod was supposed to arrive by the end of 2017, but it got postponed to this year. Apple announced that the HomePod will start shipping on February 9. The price of the HomePod speaker is $349 and it is limited to the U.S., U.K. and Australia for now. And preordering began on Friday, January 26.

3. Bug Fixes

The iOS 11.2.5 update comes with several bug fixes. These include:

  1. Addresses an issue that could cause Messages conversations to temporarily be listed out of order
  2. An issue that could cause the Phone app to display incomplete information in the call list
  3. Fixes an issue that caused Mail notifications from some Exchange accounts to disappear from the Lock screen when unlocking iPhone X with Face ID
  4. Another  issue that could cause Messages conversations to temporarily be listed out of order
  5. Fixes an issue in CarPlay where Now Playing controls become unresponsive after multiple track changes
  6. Adds ability for VoiceOver to announce playback destinations and AirPod battery level
